Seller Guidelines
Being a seller on Materia Market is easy but we need your help to make sure our community remains safe. Materia Market asks all sellers to follow these guidelines to make sure all buyers and prospective buyers have a good experience.
In this guide we'll go over the following points:
- General selling guidelines
- How to create appropriate listings
- What is allowed to be listed in the Marketplace
- What is not allowed to be listed in the Marketplace
These guidelines are part of our greater Terms of Service policy. By using Materia Market to list items you own, you are agreeing to this Policy and our Terms of Service.
General Selling Guidelines
The Materia Market community is only as good as the users on it. We believe in order build a thriving community it must be founded on the basis of trust, respect, and transparency. We ask that sellers represent themselves honestly and describe all details of their listings with accuracy and transparency. When interacting with buyers and potential buyers you must be kind and professional at all times. We want to see all of the sellers on Materia Market be successful and by following these guidelines you can reduce or eliminate negative ratings and feedback.
Creating listings
Listing Information
Creating a listing is quick and easy. Simply select the option to "Post" a listing from the main menu, then select the type of item you wish to list. Each listing type requires certain information in order to create the listing and the screen will guide you as to what information is needed.
Required information for fabric listings:
- Photo
- Title
- Price
- Length
- Width
- Material
And for yarn listings:
- Photo
- Title
- Price
- Length
- Fiber type
- Weight
All listings however require some photos and in order to post your listing, we require at least one photo - the main photo.
Photography
The item should be clearly represented in the main photo, and please avoid any photo editing such as filters that take away from the items true colors and features. We also ask that you do not use any photos in your listing that you did not take or get the permission to use. Also please do not use misleading photos such as stock photography or artistic renderings.
In order to make your listing appealing to your buyers take extra steps to show your item in a clear and easy to understand way so buyers know exactly what they are getting. We find that draping fabric over a mannequin for example can make listings sell much quicker than just showing fabric folded up.
Guidelines For Allowed Listings
Materia Market allows sellers to list specific items that we break down into the following categories: fabric and yarn. Within these categories sellers must ensure their items meet the following criteria:
- The item must be clean and free of stains, rips, tears and other damages.
- Items that come from a house with pets (such as cats and dogs etc) must be clearly labeled as such so buyers allergic to pet dander are not put at risk.
- Items that have come in contact with smoke or other smells (such as cigarette smoke) must also be clearly labeled.
- For items that may have been pre-washed (such as fabrics), we ask that you note this and also if it was washed with detergent so buyers with specific allergies are not put at risk.
Guidelines For Disallowed Listings
By posting a listing you agree to honor the platform's direction on what items are allowed to be posted. Any items listed outside of the categories described in the section above will be removed from the marketplace. If you continually post listing that violate these policies you risk having your account closed and not being allowed back to the Materia Market platform.
